Hi! I'm Robyn Painter
I created this firm because I know how hard parents and educators work to navigate the needs of the children in their care even though our public school system is often not set up with the diverse needs of all children in mind. Changing education laws and regulations make this task even more complex.
I'm an attorney with top-tier training and over 20 years of experience in education law, complex litigation, criminal defense, civil rights and employment law, regulatory affairs, appellate matters, and mental health law. I'm also a parent of three wonderful, unique children: a child with significant learning differences, a transgender child, and a gifted child who moves to their own beat. Each of my children deserve to be honored for who they are and given every opportunity to reach their potential. So do yours.
I care deeply about individual people's rights, educational accessibility, and making sure my clients' voices are heard. I'm passionate about education and excited to learn how I can help you.
I am a dedicated advocate, meticulous investigator, and knowledgeable litigator with excellent interpersonal skills and a talent for finding creative solutions to thorny legal issues. I enjoy handling complex or novel legal issues and providing guidance and advocacy for parents and institutions.
From 2015-2025, I worked at the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights and as an Assistant Director at Federal Student Aid's Borrower Defense Legal Group. As a first‐generation college graduate and former criminal defense attorney, I bring a sense of mission and purpose to my legal work, knowing that education can be life‐changing and life‐saving. Through my legal career, I have observed first‐hand that equitably providing students with what they need to be successful can avoid a host of negative outcomes that squander the human potential available to our society.
